Supporting Our Community: Founding Farmers Co. Catering & Events Partners with World Central Kitchen During Government Shutdown

Updated: Dec 23, 2025

Founding Farmers Co. Catering & Events was proud to partner with World Central Kitchen to provide meals to federal workers impacted by the recent government shutdown.

Feeding Those Who Serve

From November 10 through 14, our catering team worked alongside World Central Kitchen to deliver more than 800 meals daily to federal employees across the Washington, DC metropolitan area. These weren't just any meals—they were thoughtfully prepared, nutritious dishes designed to bring comfort and sustenance to workers and their families navigating the uncertainty of furloughs and unpaid work.

The impact of this effort had been significant enough that after seeing the quality and scope of our initial contribution, World Central Kitchen reached out with a request: could we provide even more meals? The answer was a resounding yes. As the shutdown continued, so did our commitment to meeting the growing need in our community.

A Partnership Rooted in Purpose

Our collaboration with World Central Kitchen feels like a natural extension of our values. Led by chef and humanitarian José Andrés, World Central Kitchen has built a reputation for responding to emergencies and economic hardship with speed, dignity, and care. They work hand-in-hand with local restaurants to serve communities, first responders, and families when they need it most.

This isn't our first time working together. During the pandemic, Founding Farmers Restaurant Group partnered with World Central Kitchen to help feed first responders on the front lines. That experience reinforced what we already knew: when crisis strikes, local restaurants can be powerful agents of support and resilience.

Looking Ahead

Our commitment to this community remains steadfast. Whether through partnerships like this one with World Central Kitchen or other initiatives, Founding Farmers will continue to find ways to support the people who call the DMV home.

Because at the end of the day, that's what community is all about—showing up for one another, especially when times are tough.
